Staff meets you at your Luxor area hotel at 8AM then you are off, driving up river to Aswan with stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo. Arriving Aswan about 2PM staff transfers you to your hotel. The distance is about 240KM (or 150 miles). After leaving Luxor you will drive to Edfu (about 110KM or 68 miles) then stop for a guided tour of the famous Temple of Horus, the best preserved of all the Nile temples. After the tour continue upriver to Kom Ombo (about 64KM or 40 miles) stopping to tour the Temple of Two Gods. Then continue to Aswan (48KM or 30 miles) where your tour ends with your arrival to your Aswan hotel.

EDFU
Temple of Horus: The temple was built during the Ptolemiac era on top of an earlier temple to Horus, which was oriented east-west instead of the current north-south configuration. The oldest part of the temple is the section from the Festival Hall to the Sanctuary; this was begun by Ptolemy III in 237 BC. The Temple was abandoned after the Roman Empire became Christian and paganism was outlawed in 391 AD. It lay buried up to its lintels in sand, with homes built over the top, until it was excavated by Auguste Mariette in the 1860s. The sand protected the monument over the years, leaving it very well preserved today.

KOM OMBO
Temple of two gods: The temple is unique because its double design means that there are courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. This was why the temple was called both "House of the Crocodile" and "Castle of the Falcon".
